What are Trunk Services
Yarra Valley Water has an extensive water reticulation system. This consists of a series of pipes connecting the reservoirs to the meters delivering water to many home and landowners within the Yarra Valley. However not all properties are connected to this system from requiring residents to apply for a temporary water supply using the Yarra Valley reticulated water system. This temporary supply is called a trunk service, and although are not planned to be long term many are still viable and in place some 40 years since its installation.
Ownership and Maintenance
As trunk services are private services they are the responsibility of the property owners that they service. Yarra Valley is responsible for maintaining the connection point on the water main and the meter assembly within the property that the trunk service supplies.
Repairs
Yarra Valley Water will carry out repairs on the first occasion and if needed upon a second occasion with subsequent notification to the owner. Any further need for repairs will be borne by the trunk service owner.
